Knight Inlet Lodge

Home to one of the largest concentrations of grizzly bears in British Columbia, Glendale Cove is also home to Knight Inlet Lodge. Set against a stunning backdrop of dramatic mountain peaks, the lodge offers 16 guest rooms each with private en suite facilities and views of Glendale Cove or the shoreline behind, where it is not uncommon to see bears. With a main dining room, lounge and interpretive centre most of the guest areas also have lounges with wood burning stoves. After daily adventures, dine on West Coast favourites such as crab, salmon and prawns harvested fresh from the pristine glacier fed waters of Knight Inlet and settle down in the evening to interpretive presentations given by one of the guides.

Your adventure begins with a floatplane transfer to the lodge and during your stay you will enjoy daily bear viewing tours (by boat in the spring and summer and on a viewing platform from late August to October). Accompanying you on all excursions is a knowledgeable guide, trained in the local wildlife and natural history of the area. Other activities during your stay may include an interpretive hike of the Kwalate River Valley and a wildlife tracking trip where you will have the opportunity to make plaster casts of the animal prints you find. There are also excursions to see bald eagles and other wildlife and you are free to use the kayaks to explore on an organized estuary tour.
