Description

From a base camp in the beautiful Syote region of South Lapland, get back to basics and learn the essential skills required to survive winter in the Arctic.

Whether you are looking for a new personal challenge or you're planning a future expedition of your own, this week-long outdoor learning holiday covers all the essentials from expedition planning to wilderness first aid, yet still allows time for some fun with cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and exciting fat bike and husky safaris.

Brush up on your outdoor cooking skills and learn the tricks of the trade as you cook on different outdoor stoves, try your luck at ice fishing and discover whether you are a natural born leader and able to work as part of a team. During the week, you'll learn to build your own snow-shelter before spending the night inside and also sleep in a remote wilderness cabin during an overnight snowshoe hike.

On all other evenings, you will sleep in warm and cosy bunk rooms in a traditional Finnish log house. Providing a comfortable base with a homely feel you are sure to enjoy relaxed evenings in good company with excellent homecooked food and daily sauna opportunities.

As your time in the north comes to an end, depart Finland armed not only with new skills and a greater understanding of winter life in cold climates but with outstanding memories of your epic Arctic adventure.
