Leaving civilisation behind, your guide will lead you on an epic journey driving your own team of dogs through the wonderful winterscapes of Lapland. Spend cosy nights in wilderness huts, sharing the days tales with your small group before the next days adventure begins. This is a great experience running with dogs that you simply cannot afford to miss.
Discover the Wilderness
For the outdoor enthusiast who really wants to experience the wild nature of Lapland there is no better experience than this. Drive your sled dogs through the west of Lapland, passing beautiful forests, close to the mountains, over frozen lakes and along rivers. Idyllic landscapes that hold a real magic. Each evening you will arrive at simple, but cosy huts with saunas. Here, after looking after your dogs you can enjoy wholesome meals and fireside conversations. A simple but very pleasing way of life, a long way from home.
Day 1 Arrive Muonio
Depart UK. Arrive Kittilä airport and transfer by road to Muonio. Enjoy dinner and overnight in cosy rooms in the Safari House or in log cabins nearby.
Day 2 Instruction and safari into the wilds
After breakfast you will be provided with safari equipment and given information about the programme for the week ahead. Then it's time to meet the dogs and pack the sleds. You will be taught how to handle the sled before setting off into the wilderness.
Days 3 - 5 Husky safari
The safari will take you through beautiful winter scenery close to the Pallas-Ylläs National Park in western Lapland. Overnight stays are in simple but cosy huts with a sauna where you can freshen up and a wilderness toilet, but no shower or electricity, this is raw nature at its best! You take care of your dog team as this helps you to get to know them and is part of the enjoyment of the trip. Meals will be prepared together with breafast and dinner served in the huts and light lunches enjoyed by open fires in the wilderness.
Day 6 Return to the centre
A final day on the trails will take you back to base this afternoon where a well deserved shower and sauna await. This evening there is a farewell dinner with your fellow adventurers before spending a final night at the safari house or in log cabins nearby.
Day 7 Depart Finland
After breakfast, transfer to Kittilä airport for your return flights to the UK.
