Description

Walk in the tracks of wolves and wolverine, enjoy the peace and solitude of untouched snowfields and learn new wilderness skills on this Arctic wildlife adventure.

Your first night in Finland will be spent at a remote hilltop hotel in Paltamo where you will be introduced to the delights of an evening snowshoe hike in search of the northern lights.

Your journey then continues east, taking you close to the Russian Border where you'll spend the next few days tracking and observing the local winter wildlife around Kuhmo, whilst staying at Kuikka Base Camp.

Snowshoe to a frozen lake for a spot of ice fishing and venture on back-country forest skis into the Elimyssalo Nature Reserve to explore the snow-laden old growth forest, where wolves, wild forest reindeer, elk and even the elusive lynx all reside.

Your final two days will be spent in the warmth and comfort of a cosy wildlife hide, perfectly positioned to observe and photograph the local wolf pack that have made their home in this region. Eagles and wolverine also visit the area and you will have an opportunity to stay overnight in the hide to maximise your wildlife observation.

Throughout your stay, feast on local flavours and hearty campfire lunches, indulge in evening saunas and enjoy the company of like-minded travellers on this small group tour.
