Description

Base yourself at a comfortable hotel in Reykjavik and spend fun-packed days exploring the best of South Iceland, marvelling at waterfalls, geysers, volcanoes and black sand beaches in the company of the same local guide and small group of like-minded travellers.  Return each evening to discover the delights of Reykjavik, the bustling capital with an ancient heritage, independently and at your own pace.
Day 1
After an afternoon exploring Reykjavik independently, an evening welcome meeting will introduce you to your local guide and the events of the days ahead which will include guided tours to the very best locations and natural wonders of South Iceland as well as free tour to explore independently.

Day 2
Your first full day of exploration will take you to the famous Golden Circle, which showcases a trio of celebrated natural attractions; Thingvellir National Park, Geysir Hot Spring area and the mighty Gullfoss waterfall. With an opportunity to meet the unique and friendly Icelandic horse and sample some delicious locally grown organic produce along the way, this is a fantastic introduction to this fascinating country.

Day 3
Today you will take the scenic route along the South Shore which offers some spectacular vistas of Mount Hekla, Eyjafjallajokul, which famously erupted in 2010 and the Westman Island archipelago that sits just off the coast.  Experience the sheer power of nature at the thundering falls of Seljalandsfoss, and Skogafoss, take a walk on the black sand beach at Reynisfjara, buffered between towering basalt columns and the crashing waves of the North Atlantic and taste traditional Icelandic skyr or homemade ice-cream at a family-owned countryside café.

Day 4
Those short on time may depart Iceland today whilst those with longer to linger will head to the breath-taking Reykjanes peninsula, home to a huge variety of geothermal features and activity from hot springs and steaming vents to brightly coloured bubbling mud pots and boiling pools.  The geothermal theme continues with a visit to the famous Blue Lagoon.  Spend time relaxing in the healing, mineral rich waters before returning for a relaxed evening in Reykjavik.

Day 5
Today is dedicated to enjoying Iceland’s capital city, beginning with an informative guided walking tour of Reykjavik where you will visit some of the city’s best-known places, alongside some lesser-known local gems. The tour ends downtown where you are free to continue your exploration on your own.

Day 6
Your time in Iceland comes to an end today, unless of course, you are hungry for more!

West Iceland Self-Drive Extension – 3 Days/2 Nights
Why not combine your guided tour experiences of the South with the freedom of independent touring in West Iceland by adding this short road trip.  Explore one of Iceland’s most enchanting, yet lesser known, regions and discover more of what makes Iceland so unique, all in one area. Experience hot springs, glacier capped volcanoes, gorgeous waterfalls, lava caves and majestic fjords and combine them with Viking history, charming handicrafts and natural hot spring pools, for a truly complete, yet one-of-a-kind, Icelandic experience.
