Wild Grass Nature Resort

Unique in Sri Lanka and surrounded by nature in a tranquil part of the Cultural Triangle, not too far from Dambulla, this is an excellent choice for a stay in the area. This small, tranquil property is set among thick bush and trees of about 10 hectares beside a small lake. On arrival you are met with a 2 storey open air reception and upper dining area. Then beyond the pond lies the swimming pool and along paths, lit at night, are 2 categories of villas, of which there are just 8 in total. The modern architecture of concrete and wood contrasts well to the natural surroundings of luxuriant green that can be appreciated through the windows that surround bedrooms. The Deluxe villas have an upper bedroom and lower lounge area whilst family rooms are across 3 floors. Both standards have outdoor showers and verandahs. Furnishings are simple and contemporary with an emphasis on what lies beyond the room, outside. It is pared-down luxury and quite innovative.

The food is particularly good with a diverse range of Sri Lankan flavours as well as continental meals. Better still the philosophy is of sustainability with their own solar power system, organic vegetable garden and drive towards a minimum carbon footprint. Furthermore, the surrounding dry zone forest was left intact whilst building on site. Consequently, it is possible to enjoy the birds and other wildlife in their undisturbed habitat.
