The great wildlife reserve of central India

Kanha National Park

Tucked deep in the heart of Madhya Pradesh, Kanha National Park spans nearly 2,000km2 of lush sal forests and meadows. This iconic reserve, made famous by Kipling’s The Jungle Book, is one of India’s best places to spot the elusive Bengal tiger in the wild.

But Kanha is more than just tigers, barasingha, or swamp deer, are a species brought back from the brink of extinction right here. Safaris also offer chances to see leopard, sloth bear, dhole or wild dog, gaur, and a variety of deer and antelope species.

For birdwatchers over 350 species have been recorded whilst there is a remarkable diversity of butterflies on the sunlit trails.

For a quieter, more immersive experience, we recommend basing yourself near the Mukki Gate, where wildlife sightings are frequent and the atmosphere is more peaceful than the busier park entrances.
