Tigers & plentiful other wildlife

Tadoba National Park

Tadoba National Park is becoming better known for its tiger sightings with an estimated population of around 100 tigers. At over 625km2 Tadoba National Park and the amalgamated Andhari Tiger Reserve is the largest wildlife reserve in the state of Maharashtra. It lies a little to the south of Nagpur, the stepping off point for reaching Pench and Kanha National Parks and so fits into this wildlife safari circuit.

Whilst much of the reserve is forested in tropical dry deciduous trees such as teak and sal there are also meadows, lakes and the river Andhari which flows through the park. Like other nearby tiger reserves it is hilly and really quite scenic. Besides tiger, dhole and sloth bear are regularly encountered in Tadoba National Park. Leopard are also present alongside the usual deer species.
