This Brazil holiday can be re-designed and tailor-made for your own unique experience

Introduction

A classic itinerary taking in some of the best wildlife and bird watching destinations in Brazil across a variety of habitats and of course some famous destinations. This trip starts off in Iguaçu and visits both the Brazilian and Argentine sides of the falls for the best experiences before moving into the wetlands of the Pantanal. There are a number of places to choose from in the vast Amazon but the southern Amazon is easily reached from Cuiaba, the main city for heading into the Pantanal and so is readily combined. However, you may wish to venture further to Manaus into the heart of the Amazon and we can provide those details too.

Iguaçu Falls, overwhelming, a blast against the senses, the falls are perhaps the greatest waterfall system in the world and Iguaçu means 'Big Water', and you have to experience them. The falls are surrounded by two national parks, one in each country, either side of the river and offer a chance to experience the endemic bird life of the Atlantic forests.

From here it is easy to connect into the northern Pantanal, a region famous for its diverse wildlife and in particular jaguars. You will stay at a good wildlife lodge with a variety of activities and where bird life is prolific, hyacinth macaws, manakins, ibis species, woodpeckers, serieamas and much more. Mammals include giant river otters, coati, southern tamandua, ocelot, tapir and occasional giant anteater plus of course black howler monkeys and hooded capuchin monkeys.

Additionally, you will also visit the Porto Jofre area to search for jaguars by boat along the river banks nearby.

Leaving the Pantanal behind there are a number of options to reach the Amazon rainforest and perhaps the best is to transfer into Cristalino Lodge in the southern area, although more budget friendly options are available here too. These round out this classic trip through some of the best natural habitats in Brazil.
