Flying out over the Okavango Delta in a light aircraft after your international arrival into Maun is always an anticipation-filled and exciting journey as you sweep low over this wetland landscape.

Kanana provides a wide diversity of species and ready access to the waters of the Okavango, particularly the Xudum River. Situated in its own concession area game drives can be exciting affairs, we experienced a kill minutes after landing on the airstrip here, and in the afternoon safari drives often return after a searching for nocturnal wildlife. Boat trips are another highlight and during the winter the heronry becomes a major draw as it is the largest in southern Africa. Pels' Fishing Owl are also often seen near to camp. Mokoros also encourage you to enjoy the surroundings, amphibians and birds as well as the flora. Guided bush walks are also possible from a camp that enjoys both the bush and water in equal measure.

Complimentary to Kanana being a 'wet' camp, Okuti, which has been refurbished in 2024, is a delightful camp with unusual architecture that also has abundant bird life, water but is renowned for game drives in the heart of Moremi Game Reserve. The surrounding protected habitat is so rich in wildlife that it makes it an ideal location for guests looking for a great value safari.

Sadly, all too soon it is time to leave the Okavango Delta behind and return to Maun.
