From a harbour-side location, enjoy the delights of Reykjavik both on and off the water. Explore the bustling city, take a stroll along the Sculpture and Shore Walk and spend time browsing some the many museums, including the fabulous ‘Whales of Iceland’. You will also have an opportunity to seek these mighty marine mammals on a 3-hour whale watching trip from the Old Harbour.
Heading north to Husavik brings more whale encounters in the plankton and fish-rich waters of Skajalfandi Bay. Known as the ‘Whale Watching Capital of Europe’ this delightful town is a pleasure to explore with its colourful harbour, array of museums and daily marine excursions.
Around Iceland there are over 20 different species of whale and many are regularly seen in this area, including minke, the mighty orca and the elusive humpback. Observe these and more in their natural habitat on 2 separate and very different excursions.
First, glide silently in a state of the art electric boat before stepping up the pace and head further out to sea in search of the big ones onboard a RIB boat. Travelling at incredible speeds, the latter will also allow you to visit Puffin Island, Lundey, home to thousands of nesting puffins between May and August.
