With cottages set among open lawns and lush tropical gardens surrounded by 750 acres of private rainforest reserve Bosque del Cao enjoys reaching views across the Pacific Ocean and Golfo Dulce from the very southern tip of the Osa Peninsula. For the nature enthusiast this is an idyllic location.
The main accommodation is in cottages or cabinas as they are known; built with either tropical woods and thatch or stucco and tile. Each has a double or twin bedded room with doors opening to the terrace and views. In addition to the bathroom there is also an outdoor shower and some also feature a loft space with 2 additional beds. Further lodging can be found in several villas that are available for larger private groups. Throughout think rustic and homely rather than luxurious but this is a great place to unwind at the end of a tour.
The main areas of this sustainable eco-lodge include a large open-plan dining area from where you can watch agoutis grazing the lawns and the macaws fly by and large thatched bar with a small pool outside ideal for relaxing. The more active can join guided tours of the primary and secondary rainforest or explore trails down to the beach. Wildlife abounds with howler monkeys waking you for breakfast, spider monkeys, toucans and many more tropical species.
