Celeste Mountain Lodge

Perched on the side of the mountains with marvellous views over the slopes of Tenorio volcano to Miravalles volcano and beyond, this excellent little mountain lodge has a unique character. The architecturally designed lodge is French owned and managed and you can expect cuisine with a Tico-French accent. Celeste Mountain Lodge may not be to everyones tastes but we do like it. The lodge is modern industrial and bright, think colourful doors and bed covers; it brings the outside in with a large open air atrium that splits the dining area from the rooms but most importanly the staff offer a warm welcome and are helpful.

The hotel has some formal gardens and maintains trails in the forest nearby where some less bird species may be seen. Even the bird feeder is hoisted up to almost eye level so you can enjoy bird watching from the comfort of the lounge area. Whilst the road to the lodge is a rough track crossing the mountain it adds to the adventure of reaching here and further to Tenorio National Park where you can hike to the waterfall on the Rio Celeste. Fewer tourists visit Tenorio when compared with Arenal volcano to the south but Celeste Mountain Lodge fills the brief for very comfortable lodging.
