100km north of the Arctic Circle, the quiet village of Luosto is located in an area of outstanding natural beauty, set close to a National Park. With good possibilities for both downhill and cross-country skiing and all other snow activities, the area is famous for its logwood buildings, built in a traditional way. We have had a long acquaintance with Luosto, running northern lights trips for over 25 years and our hotel of choice here is Hotel Aurora. 

Situated at the foot of a fell in the heart of Luosto, Hotel Aurora offers an excellent base if you are searching for the Northern Lights. The north facing guestrooms, situated over 3 floors are warm and inviting with modern furnishings yet offer a traditional touch. With en suite facilities, all rooms boast a sauna, perfect for 2, and many also have their own fireplace.

Hotel Aurora is also proud to offer Luosto's first Aurora Glass Igloos. Located just a few steps away from the main building, 10 beautifully designed Arctic accommodations offer panoramic views through the glass walls and ceiling of the surrounding Lappish landscape and Arctic skies. Boasting quality hotel amenities, the air-conditioned Glass View Rooms feature a private bathroom with toilet and shower and are available year-round providing a unique chance to not only experience amazing displays of the northern lights but during the summer you can also experience the magical Midnight Sun.

The hotel lobby and bar with its cosy fireplace, provides the perfect place to sit and relax while the restaurant serves traditional cuisine, prepared using local ingredients on the lava stone grill in the open kitchen.

A host of winter activities are available during your stay from dog sledding to snowshoeing and downhill skiing is available with 7 slopes and 3 lifts located nearby. As an added bonus, each guest will be given access to an Aurora Alarm to alert you of any auroral activity during your stay.
