The Boatshed

The Boatshed offers you a very different take on a 'city hotel'. Waiheke Island is located in the sparkling waters of the Hauraki Gulf, a short ferry ride, or even shorter helicopter flight, from downtown Auckland. The unique micro-climate has given rise to an explosion of exceptional wineries created by a dedicated collection of winegrowers who have successfully matched the maritime climate and ancient soil structures with a selection of classic grapes. The laid-back life style also holds great appeal for many artisans and the island is home to over 100 working artists all inspired by the natural beauty of Waiheke.

Taking inspiration from the Bach - a word unique to New Zealand and best defined as a beach cottage, The Boatshed is a cool, hip hotel comprising just 5 suites and 2 bungalows offering an eclectic mix of style and space whilst remaining true to the essence of the 'kiwi bach'. 3 boatsheds have a nostalgic beach hut feel albeit it with open fires, air conditioning and private decks, these are not the beach huts of your childhood! The Lighthouse and the Bridge offer a touch of romance and indulgence, plus exceptional views whilst the 2 bungalows provide space and solitude in a very stylish setting.

Breakfast and on-island transfers are included with all stays at The Boatshed and for in-house guests an all-day dining menu is also available for part or all of your stay.

Life on Waiheke tends to revolve around the beach and at The Boatshed you are only a few moments walk from the closest one. Wine is the other main attraction and there are a number of tours to choose from, alternatively make use of the hotel's classic mini moke and explore the island as you please.
