Fumba Beach Lodge

One of a good selection of small lodges on Zanzibar. Located by itself on the south coast with thatched cottages looking out over the beach to islands dotted on the sea. The cottages are simple yet stylish Zanzibari style in cool, bright colours. The most unusual cottages are those built around the shore-side giant baobab trees. There is a large pool just above the sea and opportunities for dining undercover or under the stars, even privately on the beach. A walk along the beach will bring you in about 1km to a small fishing village whilst day trips can be made by dhow or boat to the islands and the seas to the east are a conservation area. Dolphins are regularly seen and diving is available from the lodge. For those that must seek some shopping Stone Town is about 25min away.

This is a ideal place for those wanting to enjoy Zanzibar away from the busy east coast beaches but it should be recognised that the beach here is quite small and should not be the main reason for a stay.
