Nkwali Camp

Nkwali Camp is the flagship camp of Robin Pope Safars, well renowned safari experts in Zambia. The 6 luxurious, thatched chalets overlook the Luangwa River, allowing guests to lie in bed listening to the raucous hippo choir. The huge open central area, offers a viewing deck over the river and access to the boat launch for seasonal sundowner river cruises and there is a pool too. As Nkwali is close to Mfuwe then the game drives take place across the river in South Luangwa National Park which is either reached by crossing the river bed or by the small ferry nearby. However, the camp location is still wild with a private reserve behind camp.

Nkwali is a very pleasant camp and an ideal starting point for a safari further into South Luangwa. Readily accessible from Mfuwe Airport game drives are however in a fairly busy part of the national park given the number of other camps and lodges in the area.
