This suggested itinerary highlights some of the possibilities across western and northern Australia. Note that there are many variations to this trip that we are happy to work through with you.
Setting out from Perth you fly north to Exmouth to explore the pristine waters of Ningaloo Reef. Here from April to July you can expect incredible encounters with whale sharks, the largest fish in the sea and docile too! Turtles, sharks and a myriad of fish can be seen and beyond the luxury camp there are gentle walks in search of rare wallabies.
Broome is the frontier town at the edge of the Kimberleys and your next destination before flying in to the Australian Wildlife Conservancy sanctuary at Mornington. This special wilderness reserve is home to a range of wildlife and is important for the conservation of the endangered and highly colourful Gouldian finch. The camp here is based on a traditional luxury tented safari camp and is set beside a watercourse in terrific scenery.
The outback cattle station is a different experience again. Here is raw Australia, red and rugged but rest assured you are made most welcome and the homestead is very comfortable. Daily activities include observing nature, cruising a gorge, tours to sites of Aboriginal art, fishing and station cattle related activities.
A light aircraft charter flight takes you into the Top End of Northern Territories and to famous Kakadu National Park where your host is one of the real characters of the north and one of its best guides. You will take a 2 night full service camping tour in a private air-conditioned Toyota Landcruiser. The exact itinerary here is designed to your interests but there is a diversity of wildlife and bird life in Kakadu as well as waterfalls and pools to swim in, forest walks and in Arnhem Land an introduction to the Aborigines of this special area, their life and art dating back at least 40 000 years.
Finally a luxury lodge awaits before the end of your trip. Here adjacent to important wetlands that you can explore by airboat and 4x4 you can discover a wealth of wildlife from crickets to cranes and vast numbers of magpie geese to tiny frogs. Agile wallabies and little corellas congregate in front of the luxury tents. The lodge has great guides and superb cuisine and is a very pleasant place to indulge in at the end of an outstanding trip.
