Description

Join a small-group escorted tour and experience the natural wonders of New Zealand's South Island, meeting the local's, visiting National Parks and walking on pristine beaches. This fully escorted tour, limited to a maximum of 8 guests, is a photographer’s dream and you will stay in fabulous accommodations and dine on superb cuisine along the way.

Departing from Christchurch with your expert guide, cross the Canterbury Plains into the foothills of the Southern Alps, climb higher to Arthurs Pass, this is 'high country' New Zealand at its very best. From here you will continue westwards through towns dating back to the gold rush era and onwards to the ancient glaciers of Franz Josef and Fox Glacier.

Your route continues down into the magnificent South-West New Zealand World Heritage Area and this relaxed pace tour means you get to enjoy a few days here to explore fully. This remote spot is home to one of the rarest penguin species on the planet, the Fiordland crested penguin second only after the Galapagos penguin and while they spend much of their life navigating the treacherous oceans they come here, to the dense coastal rainforest, to breed between July and December each year. Seeing the penguins in their natural environment is a very special experience and you have the opportunity to walk to Monro Beach independently or join a guide. This is wildlife in the truest sense of the word.

From here your route turns inland and crossed the Haast Pass and over the splendid Crown Ranges before descending into Queenstown. Along with time to relax a full day experience to Milford Sound is also included. Optional excursions in Queenstown include winery visits, back country 4WD tours and for the adventurous bungy jumping or jet boating!
