Arctic Retreat is tucked away in the forest and nestled at the foot of Raven Rapid in the Råne River Valley. This eco-retreat is the inspiration of Liza and Niklas who have created a truly special place for just 10 guests, staying in 3 luxurious log cabins, each with a private deck and outdoor hot-tub. You may stay at Arctic Retreat and share this wonderful experience with a handful of other guests or opt for 'exclusive use' of the whole Retreat.
Whether you seek adventure or solitude, you will find both here. This is your Swedish journey so during your stay you can do as little or a much as you wish. With a wide range of experiences and activities on offer you won't be short of options. The guided activities are led either by your hosts or local partners with a high level of service to fulfil the highest expectations or you may prefer to explore independently.
Day 1:
Just an hour's drive north of Lulea Airport will transport you to the peaceful wilderness of Arctic Retreat where, after settling into your cabin, you can spend the rest of the afternoon exploring this tranquil haven, nestled in the river valley. Dinner will be served in the cosy log cabin restaurant and afterwards you may wish to relax around the fire-pit chatting with follow guests while you watch the night skies for signs of the aurora borealis.
Day 2:
To take full advantage of your time in this unique setting we have included the Retreat's Wilderness Explorer Programme which includes the use of snowshoes, cross country ski equipment and fat bikes. After a little guidance on equipment use and information about the local scenic spots, you are free to hit the trails and enjoy the surrounding beauty at your own pace. After dinner this evening the adventure continues as you head out with a guide to seek the northern lights.
Northern Lights Snowshoe Walk | This evening, the aim is to catch a glimpse of the northern lights on a snowshoe walk from camp. Kitted out in winter clothing, snowshoes and head torches you’ll head to a high point and a clear view to the north to hopefully enjoy a spectacular lightshow accompanied by outdoor fika. 'Fika' is a Swedish lifestyle tradition that involves taking time out to enjoy coffee and a sweet bun.
Day 3:
We have left today free for more independent exploration however, if you would prefer to spend time in the company of a guide, there are lots of activities that can be arranged, most of which are conducted privately. From Nordic classics like snowshoeing and cross-country skiing to moose safari’s and ice-fishing, the options are plentiful. Choose a snowmobile or husky tour, discover Sami culture or tantalize your taste buds on culinary tour with a guest chef. Whichever adventure you choose, end the day relaxing back at the retreat. Book time in the sauna, treat yourself to a classic Swedish massage or relax in the warm waters of your own private jacuzzi, while you watch the northern lights dance overhead.
Day 4:
As your stay at Arctic Retreat comes to an end, you may wish to continue your Swedish adventure with a stay in another unique property. Transfers can be arranged other destinations such as Icehotel, Treehotel or Loggers Lodge or you may head back to the airport, taking home fond memories of beautiful Sweden.
