Location is everything in Lapland, and we have found a gem for those short on time but big on expectation. 

At the gateway to the Arctic Circle Hiking Area, this wilderness destination offers the perfect playground for all things ‘Lapland’ yet is situated only 15-minutes from Lapland’s Rovaniemi airport. Surrounded by lush forest and nestled beside the beautiful rapids of River Raudanjoki, Vaattunki Wilderness Resort is the perfect place for the those who want to enjoy pure nature whilst making lasting memories.  

Four very different styles of accommodations cater for everyone, from couples through to larger family groups, in log buildings that range from traditional to more contemporary. 

Panorama Hut - For couples or smaller families of three, the Panorama Huts offer an intimate space for relaxation and blend perfectly with Vaattunki Wilderness Resort’s natural surroundings. Inspired by nature’s own building materials, the modern Lappish interiors feature a huge panoramic window which connects you to Lapland’s nature, maximizing your chances to witness the northern lights while you cosy up and for some winter romance. 

Aurora Apartment - The traditional log-built Aurora Cabin holds two large separate apartments and is the perfect choice for larger family groups as they accommodate up to 8 people. Both apartments have four twin bedded rooms with a shared lounge area, TV and bathroom, they also share the main entrance and communal hallway with refreshment station. 

Riverside Apartments - Four semi-­detached apartments welcome families of up to five people with each offering two twin bedded rooms plus an extra sofa-bed in the cosy living room. There is a fireplace, TV and dining area, plus a small kitchen for those extra snacks.  In addition to the bathroom, an extra benefit in this apartment is the private sauna... an ideal spot for a cold beer!

Stella Family Rooms - Stella Cottage is a large traditional log cabin with a shared lounge at its communal heart providing a social space to meet with other families during your stay. However, privacy isn’t compromised as branching off from this communal space are 5 private and cosy duplex bedrooms. Each duplex has 2 floors with two twin beds in the upper loft and a convertible sofa bed on the ground floor alongside the private ensuite bathroom. 

Whichever accommodation you choose, each evening you are invited to dine in the cosy restaurant located in the main lodge building.  Offering a warming log fire and tasty menu, you may also enjoy a drink in the Moose Bar & Lounge after a day of adventure. Sauna facilities are available in some of the accommodations however, for those without, you may pre-book some private time in the riverside sauna and outdoor hot tub.
