2. Fly to Akureyri. Transfer to hotel where the rest of the day is free for exploration

After an evening in Reykjavik your northern adventure beings the following morning with a short 45 minute flight to Akureyri. Iceland's second largest city is a delight to discover and you can easily amuse yourself for the rest of the day with visits to museums, art galleries or the botanical gardens. You may wish to take to the water on a whale watching trip for an opportunity to see orca, dolphins and other marine life.
Lake Myvatn is a wonder to explore and all the best sights will be included on a fabulous full day guided tour of this impressive area. Waterfalls, lava pillars, rolling lava fields and active geothermal areas are all on the agenda and the day will culminate with a relaxing soak in the warm thermal waters at Myvatn Nature Baths.
Spend a final day in the "Capital of the North" before your evening flight back to Reykjavik. There are organised tours you can join or you may prefer to explore independently.
Back in Reykjavik your short break has come to an end. There is a little time this morning to take a walk along Laugavegur, the main shopping street in downtown Reykjavik, and be sure to take in the amazing vistas from the top of the tower of Hallgrimskirkje church.
