On this incredible journey, follow Iceland’s dramatic coastline through an active volcanic zone, past black sand beaches, snow-capped mountains and cascading waterfalls. Marvel at the everchanging landscapes, experience some of the unique activities and soak in the therapeutic geothermal waters that nature has gifted to this incredible land.
Day 1. Reykjavik
On arrival in Iceland, transfer to Reykjavik with an option to visit the Blue Lagoon en route.
Day 2. Reykjavik
Acquaint yourself with Reykjavik and its many attractions as you explore independently.
Day 3. Höfn
Spend a final morning in the capital before flying to Höfn this afternoon where you will collect your hire car and make your way to your hotel.
Day 4. Icebergs, Ice caves and Vík
The south coast offers so many spectacular sights, each one as awe-inspiring as the last. Your first stop today will be Jökulsárlón Glacial Lagoon, home to towering icebergs and the occasional frolicking seal. You will then have an opportunity to venture beneath the ice as you explore one of the many stunning ice caves that can be found on the south side of Vatnajökull. If time allows take a hike overland at Skaftafell before continuing your journey to Vík where you will overnight.
Day 5. Black Sand Beaches, Waterfalls and the Secret Lagoon
The towering basalt column cliffs of Reynisfjara and views to Dyrhólaey are first on the agenda today before witnessing the majestic waterfalls, Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss. Discover more about Eyjafjallajökull’s 2010 eruption at the Lava Centre and end the day relaxing in the geothermal waters at the Secret Lagoon, Iceland’s oldest natural hot spring pool.
Day 6. The Golden Circle
Explore Iceland’s famous Golden Circle, a ‘must do’ for first-time visitors.This famous circle of attractions consists of Thingvellir National Park, the location of Iceland’s first parliament, plus geothermal Geysir and the mighty waterfall, Gullfoss.
Day 7. Reykjanes Peninsula
With an early start today, explore the Reykjanes Peninsula and you may have time to relax in the thermal waters of the Blue Lagoon before heading back to Keflavik Airport for departure.
