New Zealand is packed to the rafters with spectacular scenery and no region more so than the concentration of breathtaking landscapes in its far south-western corner - Fiordland.
Whether travelling by coach or self-driving, the journey from Queenstown or Te Anau offers stunning scenery en-route to Manapouri. Following a short cruise across the lake, continue by coach across the Wilmot Pass, through the verdant rainforest to Deep Cove, where you will board the Fiordland Navigator for the start of your Doubtful Sound overnight experience.
As you cruise the length of Doubtful Sound keep your eyes peeled for fur seals, rare penguins and the resident pod of dolphins that can often be seen playing around the bow of the boat. After dropping anchor in a sheltered cove you can choose to relax onboard or explore the shoreline in one of the tender vessels or at your own pace by kayak.
A three course buffet evening meal is served in the dining room and a popular evening past time, if the skies are clear, is star-gazing on deck with a nightcap to round off the evening.
You will awake in the peaceful surrounds of this stunning wilderness and after breakfast, there is further exploration of Doubtful Sound before returning to Manapouri and onwards to Te Anau or Queenstown.
