The beauty of the southern parks of Tanzania is the lack of crowds and abundance of wildlife free to roam in areas relatively unexplored; two of the largest conservation areas in Africa provides some of the most dramatic game viewing.
With a morning arrival into Dar you connect with a short flight to Nyerere National Park with its endless stretch of waterways. Nyerere was formally known as Selous Game Reserve. The parks lakes and rivers not only provide a stunning landscape, but an excellent opportunity for boat safaris and wildlife and bird viewing from a fascinating angle. Game drives and walks are also possible depending on the camp chosen.
A remote, dramatic wilderness, Ruaha is home to one of the largest elephant populations in Africa and is the second wilderness destination on this safari of the south. It is quite possible to find your own area of this vast park to explore without ever seeing another soul, which heightens the sense of the intrepid when looking out for cheetah, wild dog, and sable antelope to name a few. The terrain is good for wildlife viewing and the many rivers and swamps are alive with crocodiles, hippos and water birds. Ruaha also boasts an impressive population of lions residing in this pristine and as yet, relatively undisturbed region.
This safari offers a range of camps from some great value camps to luxury but all with the common theme of providing the best wildlife experiences in these huge wilderness areas.
