Description

In the early months of winter, polar bears congregate in large numbers on the coast of Hudson Bay waiting for the ice to freeze over so they can start their annual winter hunt.

This outstanding journey offers you the opportunity to join the polar bears in this remote and pristine wilderness, staying in comfortable wilderness lodge accommodation on the shores of Hudson Bay and Dymond Lake. Here you will gain not only an intimate experience with polar bears and their cubs, but also some fantastic photographic opportunities and, as darkness falls, the possibility of witnessing the spectacular Aurora Borealis.

Your journey begins in Churchill with a fixed wing transfer to the remote Dymond Lake Lodge. Here you will spend the following few days seeking out some of the best adapted creatures on the planet on daily guided walks. Sightings however will not be limited to your walks alone, the bears are often known to saunter past the lodge so they can also be viewed from the warmth of one of the lounges.

These daily walks to view and photograph the bears are combined with cosy evenings spent around the fireplace, dining on gourmet cuisine and listening to insightful and informative presentations from your guides of life in the Arctic. As darkness falls you can head to the Aurora viewing tower to seek out the northern lights.

As you return to Churchill there will be some free time to explore this frontier community or maybe you would like to include a dog sled safari or scenic helicopter flight before re-joining the polar bears on your final day with a trip out on the frozen tundra in a specially designed Tundra Buggy® where you will have lunch with the polar bears!

This really is the ultimate polar bear expedition.
