A family home and one of the oldest residences in the hill station of Nuwara Eliya built in the 1800’s it has had few changes over the years and holds on to the past of ‘Little England’ as the town was known. With few modernisations and just 6 colonial-style rooms and 1 hectare of gardens Ferncliff retains its heritage wonderfully.
However, it is a lovely cosy place to stay with modern conveniences – nice bathrooms and wifi; and we loved the spacious, light and airy suites when we stayed. Staff are very friendly and attentive making for genial hospitality and a relaxing atmosphere. Dining is good wholesome home cooked food, either Western or Sri Lankan, their black-pork curry is very good and meals are taken in the small colonial dining room.
The gardens surrounding the bungalow include a herb garden and a large expanse of lawn, where you might enjoy afternoon tea after morning adventures at Horton Plains.
