Wilderness Hotel Nellim

Close to the shores of Lake Inari and surrounded by pristine wilderness this comfortable, family run lodge offers a warm Sami welcome, oozes a rustic charm and boasts a wealth of winter adventures.

Once the local school, Nellim has been authentically converted to reflect the local Sami cultures by owners and hosts, Jouko and Mari. A variety of accommodation styles are offered from simple yet cosy hotel rooms, through to spacious suites and apartments, rustic log cabins and luxurious Arctic Suites, all with private facilities and many with a personal sauna. For the ultimate in aurora viewing you may also choose one of the Aurora Huts with a partial laser-heated glass ceiling.

In the main lodge, good hearty food complimented by Lappish hospitality is served buffet style in the restaurant and you may relax in the bar throughout the day with a hot drink or maybe something a little stronger. You will also find a traditional Finnish log-fired sauna in which to relax after each day's activities.

Northern lights viewing and winter activities are the main events at Nellim and enthusiast guides with an outstanding knowledge of Lappish culture will ensure you make the most of everyday, whether you are embarking on a husky sled adventure, spending the day with a reindeer herder, snowmobiling or cross-country skiing. Snowshoeing, ice-fishing and tobogganing are also possible; whilst each night you have the opportunity to head out to a wilderness cabin or Aurora Camp for a few key hours for some amazing opportunities to view the aurora borealis.
