A short flight from Churchill takes you out to the tundra and to Seal River Heritage Lodge located in the heart of polar bear country. From here you can discover a fantastic variety of wildlife including beautiful white beluga whales that reside in the estuary during the summer months. Caribou, wolves, Arctic fox, Arctic hare, snowy owls and birds of prey may also be observed.
During this trip you will spend time with expert guides exploring the tundra on various wilderness adventures. Walking in bear country offers thrilling encounters and the colourful tundra pastures around the lodge are a favourite haunt for the majestic polar bears. Walking tours also allow for fantastic photo opportunities and some excellent bird watching.
Beluga whales visit the Seal River estuary each summer and you'll have the opportunity to encounter these gentle mammals during amazing boat excursions to whale watch and listen to sea canaries with hydrophones.
Back at the lodge after a gourmet meal, evenings are spent recalling tales and learning more about life and nature in this remote region. During the later part of the season, as night falls, you may also be lucky enough to witness the majestic Aurora Borealis.
With no formal timeline or fixed daily programme, each trip offers a unique experience although you can expect to take part in marine tours, trekking, coastline explorations by buggy and ocean paddles. What more could you ask for?
