One of the rarest wildlife sightings anywhere in the world must be to see the elusive Spirit Bear. Also known as the Kermode Bear, these magnificent creatures are white or cream in colour although they are actually part of the black bear family.
Your journey begins with a flight from Vancouver to Bella Bella where you switch your mode of transport and traverse the scenic waterways to the ancient First Nations village of Klemtu. This beautiful area in secluded heartland of the world's largest intact temperate rainforest becomes your home for the next few days as you arrive at Spirit Bear Lodge.
Each day will bring a new adventure as you explore the pristine river valleys and estuaries by boat and on foot in the company of experienced guides. Along the way you will encounter excellent wildlife viewing and photographic opportunities as you seek out not only the unique and elusive spirit bear but grizzlies and black bears, eagles, sea lions, wolves and majestic pods of orcas marauding the shorelines of the Pacific Ocean in search of food.
In addition to dedicated wildlife tours you will also be able to enjoy interpretive tours, discover an extinct volcano and visit cultural and historic sites. You will also experience the community spirit of the First Nations people as you are welcomed into their untouched world, invited to listen to their ancestral stories, and gain a greater understanding of their life among nature in this spectacular wilderness.
