This intimate glass kota village sits in the heart of Sámi Land, in a remote lakeside setting, where over 100 reindeer are your closest neighbour.  Far removed from the bustle of modern life, Nivunki offers a sanctuary in which to relax, recharge, and reconnect with what truly matters.

During your stay you are free to do as little or as much as you choose but the Arctic offers so many unique opportunities, so whether you wish to stay for 4, 5 or 6-days, we have included some of the best winter adventures available.

Enjoy an Arctic journey to a traditional Lappish Kota pulled by your own team of eager huskies and embrace the stillness of the Arctic night on a peaceful snowshoe trek through the wintery surroundings of Lake Nivunki.  Meet the resident reindeer and enjoy a romantic sleigh ride through the wilderness, guided by the age-old rhythm of reindeer trekking before swapping the serene for a little more speed, when you seek the northern lights on a thrilling snowmobile safari.  An unexpected highlight invites you to listen to stories of Lapland’s spirits and share the ancestral wisdom of local shaman Anu Aikia in a memorable Lappish ceremony where you will be blessed with protection and wellbeing.

There is also ample time to pursue your own adventures. Maybe slip on some snowshoes for an independent hike through the deep powder snow, spend time with a local artisan and learn the techniques used in traditional handicrafts or simply sit back and embrace the healing properties of wood, water, and fire at the lakeside sauna, taking a dip in the ice hole, if you dare!

At the heart of the village, the main lodge welcomes you to dine on a delicious changing menu of locally sourced dishes and relax with a drink from the bar by roaring log fire. Your cosy Kota, perfect for two, then beckons as a welcome retreat, and with views to the skies and no light pollution to hinder your view, you can curl up and watch as the Auroras dance.
