Stay at the charming Iisakki Village on the shores of Lake Rukajärvi, just a 10-minute drive from Ruka. Wilderness Hotel Papin Talo or Iisakki Guest House will be your home away from home, offering relaxed Finnish ambiance and hearty home-cooked fare you may not want to leave. But beyond your doorstep, there is plenty to explore - whether hiking, biking, or enjoying the water, there’s more than enough to keep you occupied.
Three guided trips are included: rafting on the Kitkajoki River, an evening canoe adventure on the lake, and a guided Sauna Tour. Additional guided trips can also be arranged including an unforgettable evening visit to a viewing hide to spot the European brown bear in its natural environment - sure to delight wildlife enthusiasts. Yet there’s still ample time for independent exploration. In summer, the alpine skiing village of nearby Ruka transforms into an adventurer’s playground, with fun for all ages and a wealth of hiking and biking trails waiting to be discovered.
Whether you are travelling as a couple, with family or going solo, this Finnish summer experience is sure to delight. You may choose to stay from 3 to 7 nights, and for an extra layer of contrast, consider extending your journey with some urban exploration in the vibrant capital, Helsinki.
